The dental industry is always advancing. As new surgical procedures and technology is created, we are better able to provide our patients with better services that result in higher-quality care, less pain, and less wait time. In many cases, this also saves you money. You don’t have to have as many office visits or as many dental surgeries. You are in, out, and healed within a much smaller timeframe. While we have some innovative new equipment in our office that we use on a daily basis, we are especially pleased with what four different pieces of advanced technology allow us to offer our patients.
The Planmeca ProMax 3D Max
The Planmeca ProMax 3D Max is one of Planmeca’s cone beam computed tomography, or CBCT, units. It allows us to take 3D digital images of your mouth. In fact, it can take a full 3D photograph of your entire skull! It can also be used to zoom in and take pictures of a single tooth and the gum. It allows us to see your dental anatomy in incredible detail, which is necessary for many different procedures. This imaging device is used in periodontics, orthodontics, endodontics, implants, dental surgery, and in analyzing TMJ. It’s used in many different procedures and provides us with much more information than traditional x-rays ever could.
The Nobel Clinician tool by Nobel Biocare is a software program that we use in 3D case and treatment planning. It allows us to perform diagnostics, plan your treatment, and show you exactly what is it we will be doing during a procedure. This tool allows us for networking with other dentists, predict the outcome of dental treatment, and much more. This software is especially helpful for those who are going to have dental implants. It has a planning tool that models where your implants will go and what the finished process will look like. It provides us with information about where your roots and nerves are, helping us plan the perfect place for each implant.
Dental Wings 7 Series Digital Scanner
The Dental Wings 7 is an all-in-one digital modeling and impression scanner. This is one of the machines you may not see when you visit us. That is because it’s used in the lab to design bridges, crowns, retained bars, implant abutments, and other dental hardware. This device quickly captures all of the clinical data we send it about your mouth, scans in molds, and more. It can scan and design things automatically without anyone sitting at the computer, too, so it lets us work much more efficiently.
Nobel Procera 2G Digital Scanner
Our fourth piece of advanced technology is the Nobel Procera 2G digital scanner. Like Clinician, this device was also created by Nobel Biocare. This scanner also collects information from molds and impressions, scanning it quickly and automatically. The Procera 2G is an upgrade from the older model and, thanks to innovations in technology, scans about 50% faster than its predecessors. It’s incredibly accurate, too, and allows us to create prosthetics that are comfortable, functional, and long-lasting.
