All-On-4® Procedure
Dallas, TX

All-On-4® dental implants at ARCHPOINTAll-On-4® dental implants are the newest and, most would say, best way of replacing all of your teeth. For those who don’t understand what this procedure entails, though, the idea may sound painful. The procedure does involve having titanium posts implanted into your jawbone, but the actual surgery to do this isn’t nearly as bad as it sounds. The recovery time is also fairly short, and many patients who have gone through the procedure say that they only felt mild to moderate pain. If you don’t know what you are in for, though, the procedure can sound quite scary. Here’s a run-down of the basic All-On-4® procedure.

The Initial Consultation

To know if you are a good candidate for the All-On-4® procedure, we will need to meet with you and go over your dental history. While many more people can take advantage of All-On-4® than previous types of implants, there are still some people who, unfortunately, aren’t good candidates. During this consultation, we will get impressions of your jaws. This allows us to create your replacement teeth and make certain that they will fit correctly and look right. It’s very important to us that your new teeth are comfortable, functional, and perfect. We will also need to get some x-rays and other photos so we can tell exactly where we need to place the implants.

Once all of that is done, we will schedule your surgery date. We will give you a list of things to do before you arrive (when to start fasting, what medications you need to avoid, etc.).

The All-On-4® Surgery

When you arrive for your treatment, we will go over everything with you once more so that you know exactly what to expect. If you have any last questions, now is the time to ask them. You will have time to relax and mentally prepare yourself. When it’s time for the procedure, we will take you to the operating area.

Many patients do want to be sedated, so that will be done next if you want. We will follow that up with anesthesia, so you feel no pain. The actual surgical procedure then begins. First, any teeth that you have left will be extracted. Then we will do a thorough cleaning of your mouth to ensure that none of your gums or other tissue has any bacteria on it.

Next, we will place each set of implants in your upper and lower jaw. In most cases, two will be placed in the front and two in the back. After these implants are finished, your mouth will be cleaned again, and the incisions will be sutured. You will then go to recovery.

Following The Surgery

Once you are awake, you will have a temporary set of prosthetics attached to the implants. This set of teeth can be adjusted, so we will work with you until the bite and fit feel right. You will wear these temporary teeth for up to six months while returning regularly for checkups. If everyone is healing as it should and the temporary teeth feel right, you may have your final set of replacement teeth within about three months.
